Arrive at our meeting point 15 minutes before the departure time stated on your ticket. If you arrive after departure time, your place on the tour can’t be guaranteed or refunded. ### DANGEROUS GOODS

For safety reasons, the Company reserves the right to “offload” items deemed a risk to passengers, aircraft, and employees.&#x20;

### ADULT

An adult is classed as any person 12 years old and over. Photo identification may be required at the time of check-in.&#x20;

### CHILD

A child is classed as any person from 2–11 years old. Identification may be required at the time of check-in.&#x20;

### INFANT

An infant is classed as any person 0–2 years old.&#x20;

### PASSENGER WEIGHTS

Due to operational weight restrictions on light aircraft, passenger numbers per flight may be adjusted when individual weights exceed standard limits.

For safety and comfort, passengers over 120 kg / 265 lbs. / 19 stone may be required to purchase 1.5 seats.&#x20;

To the best of their information and belief based on details furnished by the suppliers of the services, Atlantsflug understands the descriptions of services supplied to be true and correct as at the time of supplying the information and can accept no responsibility for changes to services that subsequently occur.&#x20;

The Company does not accept liability in contract or tort for any damage, loss, delay, additional expense, or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or other events which are beyond its control, or which are not preventable by reasonable diligence on its part, including but not limited to, war, civil disturbance, fire, floods, eruption, atypical weather conditions, acts of God, acts of government or other authorities, accidents to or failure of machinery or equipment or industrial action.&#x20;

The Company reserves the right to change fares before payment and without notice. The Company reserves the right to change, cancel, or withdraw any bookings made for a passenger or decline to accept or retain any person on any flight or package. And further shall be under no obligation to any person because of any inaccuracy, misdescription, or changes to any itinerary, or for losses or additional expenses due to delays in air or other transport services, sickness, weather, eruption, quarantine, or other causes such as a bereavement.&#x20;

The traveler acknowledges that once payment for any travel and or package has been confirmed, their travel and any other services offered were based on these terms and conditions, and it is the traveler’s responsibility to read and understand the terms offered, booking conditions, and responsibilities before the booking is made. The traveler acknowledges that the Company is under no obligation to refer to the terms and conditions at the time of booking but has them available if requested.&#x20;

If any portion of the above conditions is inconsistent with or breaches any applicable law, it shall be void and of no effect. Where the purchase acquires or holds itself/herself out as acquiring Atlantsflug’s services of any of the Services herein for business purposes, the provisions of local Icelandic laws and regulations will not apply to the supply of any of those services, and the Company will not be liable for any resulting loss or damage, including any consequential loss or damage howsoever caused.&#x20;

Atlantsflug reserves the right to apply additional and or special terms and conditions to individual services provided, and they then become part of these terms and conditions. In such cases, the customer will receive notice of these terms during their booking process.&#x20;

Any claim arising out of the provision of services by Atlantsflug will be governed only by the laws of Iceland.&#x20;

You can cancel your booking with Atlantsflug up to 24 hours before departure, and receive a full refund. We are obliged to charge cancellation fees as follows:

# Tips and Tricks

Some usefull tips and tricks for taking aerial photographs.

## Before the flight

*   Do your research and decide what equipment you are going to be using before the flight, you will not have much time to change equipments during the flight.
*   The most common lens to bring on aerial photo flights range from range from 24-105 mm or 70-300 mm.
*   Wear wam layered clothing, since you will be flying with an open window it might get a bit cold in the aicraft. But make sure they are not to bulky, so you can move around freely.
*   Take your time to explaine to our staff what you want to shoot, out pilots are experts in finding great locations to picture but we are happy to listen to your suggestions.
*   Best lighting for aerial photography is early morning or late afternoon. However, the excact timing changes with every season, so make sure to do your research on what kind og lighting you want for your photos.

## During the flight&#x20;

*   The pilots job is to keep you safe, so please follow his instructions
*   Make sure you seccure all your gear and yourself before opening the window, otherwise some of your equipment might fall out.
*   While in the air, make sure no part of your camera, not even the strap, is sticking out of the window. It might cause damage to your equipment or the airplane.
*   If you are prone to motion sickness it might be a good idea to take some preventative measures, like taking motion sickness medicine before the flight or bring along some ginger to chew on. Also keep in mind that constantly looking through the viewfinder can add to your motion sickness so make sure you take some time to look up from the camera and enjoy the ride. All our aicraft have barf-bags if needed and please inform your pilot if you a feeling sick and he will do his best to make your experience go better.

**Our Skaftafell meeting point** is at Skaftafell Terminal, located at our private airport right next to ring-road 1. The best way to get there is to drive on road number 1 and turn off the road to the opposite side of Skaftafell National Park.&#x20;

## What do I need to bring

Proper winter clothing is required for this tour. Conditions on the glacier can be cold and change quickly — guests who arrive without appropriate gear may not be permitted to join the flight.

Dress as you would for a full day of winter hiking:

* **Base Layers:** Long-sleeve thermal shirt and long johns (synthetic or wool).
* **Mid Layers:** A warm fleece or wool sweater. On colder days, add an insulated down or synthetic jacket.
* **Outer Layers:** Waterproof, windproof jacket and pants (Gore-Tex or similar).
* **Accessories:** Warm hat or headband, insulated gloves or mittens, and wool or synthetic socks (avoid cotton).
* **Footwear:** Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support are essential - sneakers or street shoes are not suitable.
* **Extras:** Small backpack for camera, extra layers, snacks, and water.

💡 **Note:** Jeans are not accepted for this tour - denim becomes very cold and uncomfortable when wet.

## Attention

This tour is **currently offered as a private experience only**.
Flight route, duration, and landing site may vary with weather and conditions. Landings are only performed when deemed safe by the pilot and chosen for the best access to the ice cave.

**Maximum group size:** 9 passengers.
Weight limits and seating configuration may affect flight order.

**Difficulty:** *Easy to moderate.* Participants must be in fair hiking conditions with a good sense of balance, as the terrain can be uneven or slippery.

**Age limit:** This private tour is generally recommended for guests **12 years and older**, due to uneven terrain near the ice cave.
Younger children may be possible depending on conditions — please contact us to discuss options.

Please come **well-equipped and dressed for variable glacier conditions**. Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy boots are essential. If participants are not properly prepared, the tour operator may refuse participation for safety reasons.

**Note:** Ice caves are natural formations and change frequently. Their appearance may differ from photos — each visit is a **unique experience**.

## What do I need to bring

Proper winter clothing is required for this tour. Conditions on the glacier can be cold and change quickly — guests who arrive without appropriate gear may not be permitted to join the flight.

Dress as you would for a full day of winter hiking:

* **Base Layers:** Long-sleeve thermal shirt and long johns (synthetic or wool).
* **Mid Layers:** A warm fleece or wool sweater. On colder days, add an insulated down or synthetic jacket.
* **Outer Layers:** Waterproof, windproof jacket and pants (Gore-Tex or similar).
* **Accessories:** Warm hat or headband, insulated gloves or mittens, and wool or synthetic socks (avoid cotton).
* **Footwear:** Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support are essential - sneakers or street shoes are not suitable.
* **Extras:** Small backpack for camera, extra layers, snacks, and water.

💡 **Note:** Jeans are not accepted for this tour - denim becomes very cold and uncomfortable when wet.

## Attention

This tour is **currently offered as a private experience only**. Flight route, duration, and landing site may vary with weather and conditions. Landings are only performed when deemed safe by the pilot and chosen for the best access to the ice cave.

**Maximum group size:** 9 passengers. Weight limits and seating configuration may affect flight order.

**Difficulty:** M*oderate.* Participants must be in fair hiking conditions with a good sense of balance, as the terrain can be uneven or slippery.

**Age limit:** This private tour is generally recommended for guests 12 years and older, due to uneven terrain on the glacier. Younger children may be possible depending on conditions — please contact us to discuss options.

Please come well-equipped and dressed for variable glacier conditions. Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy boots are essential. If participants are not properly prepared, the tour operator may refuse participation for safety reasons.

**Note:** Glaciers are natural formations and change frequently. Their appearance may differ from photos — each visit is a unique experience.

#### I am traveling solo, how can I join a tour?

If you are traveling on your own, you can go ahead and book your tour and we will do our best to pair you together with another group. If you have a specific time you would prefer to fly with us, please mention it in the booking comments or let us know by writing an email.

#### There are two of us but the tour has a minimum number of 3 or more passengers.&#xA;

If your group is below the minimum, you can still go ahead and book your tour and we will do our best to join your booking with another group. Some of our customers also prefer to pay for the 3 seats to confirm their flight will go ahead.&#x20;

#### Do your tours have a weight limit?

To ensure safety and comfort for all our passengers we have the policy of requiring passengers over passengers over 120 kg/265 lbs./19 stone pay for 1,5 seats. Start by choosing your preferred **departure location**. From Skaftafell, we offer both **airplane** and **helicopter** tours. From Reykjavík, we offer **helicopter tours**.

Once you select your tour, choose your preferred **date and time**, and complete the booking through our secure online payment system.

#### What are your departure times?

All our tours have set departure times, which are shown on each tour page and during the booking process. Departure times may vary depending on the tour and season.

Please note that during wintertime, our operating hours are shorter due to limited daylight here in Iceland.

#### Can we see any active volcanoes?

Most of the time, there are **no erupting volcanoes** in Iceland. When an eruption does occur, we create dedicated tours to view it. Please visit our website or follow us on social media for the latest updates.

#### On which tours do we see glaciers?

Many of our tours include views of glaciers, especially those departing from **Skaftafell Terminal**, which is located right next to Vatnajökull — Europe’s largest glacier. From Skaftafell, most flights naturally include glacier scenery.

Several tours from **Reykjavík** also offer glacier views, particularly those heading toward the highlands or Vatnajökull area.

#### Can we open the windows to take pictures during a tour?

On our standard tours, **it is not allowed** to open the windows. Open windows are only allowed on private or specialized photo flights. To book a private charter flight or custom photo flight please send us an email to [info@flightseeing.is](mailto:info@flightseeing.is) and we will be happy to assist you.

#### What kind of clothes should I wear?

If your tour includes a landing, as some of our helicopter tours do, we suggest that you wear warm layered clothing since the wind can be cold, even though it is a sunny summer day. From October to mid-April we recommend winter clothing. Good, closed, waterproof shoes are highly recommended unless you want to get your feet wet or take the chance on falling on the rough volcanic terrain we often land on. During winter and on tours with glacier landings it is especially important to wear good shoes since you’ll be walking on the snow.

Sitting in our aircraft itself is not cold, it is similar to sitting in a car, so if your tour does not include a landing, a light jacket should be sufficient.

During custom photo-flights, temperatures can drop, due to open windows or removed doors. In these cases, we recommend multiple warm layers which are flexible and not too bulky, so you can move freely and your clothing doesn‘t get in the way of your shots.

#### How do I get to your location?

Our **Skaftafell** meeting point is at Skaftafell Terminal, located at our private airport in Skaftafell right next to ring-road 1. The best way to get there is to drive on road number 1 and turn off the road to the opposite side of Skaftafell National Park.

Driving time to Skaftafell from Reykjavík is around 4 hours and 30 minutes. If you arrive early, you can visit Skaftafell Terminal which offers free parking, light refreshment and has restrooms.

#### What type of aircraft do you operate?

From Skaftafell we operate a Cessna 207 with seats for up to five passengers and three openable windows for photo flights and a Airbus H125 Helicopter with seats for up to 5 passengers.

From Reykjavik we operate a Airbus H125 Helicopter with seats for up to 5 passengers.

#### Which aircraft do you use for photo flights?

Our Cessna 207 airplane is our most popular aircraft for photo flights. But all our aircraft can be used for photo flights, it really depends on our availability at the time of your booking and your preference, which aircraft we use.

#### Do you offer pick-up service?

Yes, we can arrange helicopter pick-up from various locations, but we do not offer car pick-up services.

#### What is your cancellation policy?

All cancellations must be made by letter or e-mail and confirmed by Atlantsflug. We are obliged to charge cancellation fees to passenger(s) as follows:

* Cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled 1 day or less before the event
* Cancellation fee of 0% is charged if cancelled 1000 days or less before the event

With your safety in mind, we reserve the right to cancel a tour or change the itinerary due to weather conditions and/or any other factors beyond our control. If Atlantsflug determines conditions unsafe and not in compliance with its operation manuals, it may cancel or reschedule flights. If customers can not change their tour to another date/time, Atlantsflug will refund the total amount paid in ISK, the same way the payment was received.

#### What happens if I have already paid for the flight and the weather is unsuitable for the tour?

If the weather forecast is not looking promising at the time of your booked tour we:

A) Try to change the time on the same day (e.g. go in the afternoon instead of the morning).

B) Offer you to go on a different date (e.g. the day before or the day after).

C)  If we are fully booked and can not offer options A or B we always give a full refund!

What started out as a passion for aviation, the outdoors, and adventure has turned into a career dedicated to flightseeing operations in Skaftafell.

Our private airstrip and terminal, Skaftafell Terminal, is located in the heart of Vatnajökull National Park just east of the junction to the Skaftafell National park. Our location allows us easy access to Europe‘s largest glacier, Vatnajökull, the highlands along with the south coast, ensuring the best possible viewing opportunities for the amazing sights Iceland has to offer.

Along with offering sightseeing flights from Skaftafell Terminal Iceland, we also have our own Part.145 maintenance facility, fully compliant with EASA rules and regulations.

### The adventure begins

##### For over 25 years, the founder and CEO of Atlantsflug, Jón Grétar, has been offering sightseeing flights from Skaftafell Airport and it all began in this tiny shed pictured above. Here the pilots would eat, sleep and handle customers, all from this tiny house. And bear in mind that this was before cellphones and the internet. 😲 How did they manage?! But this was only the beginning of something great…

### Huge improvement

…then, 25 years ago, the cabin you see in the picture above
was moved to Skaftafell. This was a huge improvement, now we had separate
bedrooms, a kitchen, and a working toilet. And through the years we have
welcomed thousands of happy customers, made some amazing friendships 💕,
squeezed endless people around the dinner table, and played numerous board
games in this house 🎲🃏. And for that,
we are so grateful!

### Things can only get better

##### But we always felt the need for something more, we wanted to be able to offer our customers full year service and expand our services. So we embarked on the journey of building a hangar and reception area. This process took years to complete, but dreams do come true, and with the help of many amazing friends and co-workers, we are proud to welcome our customers to Skaftafell Terminal, est. 2018 and hope to make many great memories there in the years to come while showing our customers Iceland from the air.
